Possible Explosives Found in Washington Township

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The FBI is investigating after a suspected explosive device was found in Washington Township.

According to Montgomery County Sheriff Rob Streck, lawmakers were called in to help regulate traffic while the FBI conducted an investigation on the 600 block of West Alex Bell Road.

The FBI called the Dayton Bomb Squad to the scene to remove the suspected explosive device. A Washington Township spokeswoman said the device was taken to the 43rd Fire Station in Dayton-Lebanon Pike and detonated under controlled conditions. During this time, the township said there was no threat to residents in the area.
