Wheeling Miners Football Team Makes Home Debut at WesBanco Arena

OHIO COUNTY, W.Va. (WTRF) – Soccer fans are flocking to cheer on the Friendly City's newest sports team.

The Wheeling Miners replaced the Wheeling Roughriders as the team to watch in the area.

It's been five years since Wheeling had its own professional football team, and fans of all ages have come to watch them play.

They played their first game against the Jersey Bearcats.

I spoke to several fans who drove from Pittsburgh to cheer on the Miners.

“We heard they were coming back and we were the first in line to get tickets so we can’t wait.”
