Utah trooper hit wrong-way car

*** Call. No spouse wants to get. I had him call me on his way home. I’m crashing ***. And in my head, that’s what I heard. And I waited *** minutes and he said you crashed ***. And I said, did you *** tire blow? He said, No, I’m Nicole McCoy’s husband, Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Sergeant Chad McCoy, risked his life to save another driver’s life Tuesday afternoon. I just finished my shift. So I just moved over to the county and didn’t hear anything on the radio. That’s when I noticed the car was moving to the right, but this truck was heading the wrong way and Sergeant McCoy was actually moving to make a decision in seconds. Dashcam video shows the moment he deliberately rammed a wrong-way car to stop McCoy. McCoy is admired by many for his heroic actions, but to him he’s just doing his job. I’m just thinking We all come to work every day to keep people safe. Everyone involved in Tuesday’s crash was able to get home. But HP Colonel Michael Rapid says that’s not always the case. Driving on the runway all too often has serious consequences. And tragic consequences include fatalities and life-threatening injuries. In the event of a crash involving a one-way driver. They are violent, tragic, and terrifying. Sergeant McCoy is grateful to have met his wife of 12 years, Nicole, and his four children. I just wanted to hug him, but oh I don’t know if he’s hurt. That is, he was standing, alive, and breathing. Let’s get him to the doctor.

The Utah highway patrolman who risked his life to stop a wrong-way vehicle speeding down a busy highway is being hailed as a hero. The incident occurred on Interstate 80 in Tours County, Yuas and was captured on dashcam video. Watch the video in the player above. “I noticed the car was moving to the right, and then I realized it was going the wrong way and was actually moving pretty fast,” he said on the Utah highway. Patrol Sergeant said. Sergeant Chad McCoy McCoy had just seconds to make the decision to hit a wrong-way car. “I was just trying to find the best angle I could to get them to stop,” he said. I said I should be allowed to go back.

“I was just trying to get the best possible angle to stop them,” he said.

Sergeant McCoy said he has been medically checked out and should be allowed back to work next week.
