What we know
From the teased images, it’s clear that the Nord2 boasts a familiar design and a triple camera mounted on the back. Some of the details identified show that, like the previous Nord, you can expect a 6.43-inch 90Hz fluid AMOLED display that supports HDR.
The rear camera has been significantly upgraded in the form of a 50MP primary camera based on Sony’s IMX766 sensor. This camera has larger pixels (which should lead to slightly improved low light performance and overall image quality) and features OIS. The specifications of the remaining two cameras have not yet been confirmed, but it is safe to assume that ultra-wide cameras and macro cameras will appear.
MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AI Chip
Even more interesting is the chipset that powers this phone. Unlike last year’s Snapdragon 765, Nord 2 has undergone a major upgrade in the form of the MediaTek Dimensity 1200-AISoC, which OnePlus has expanded with MediaTek.
The base chip is a combination of an 8-core CPU (ARM Cortex-A78 Ultracore, 3x ARM Cortex-A78 Performance Core, and 4x ARM Cortex-A55 Efficiency Core) and a Mali-G77 MC9 GPU. The chipset supports dual SIM 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, quad channel memory and dual channel UFS 3.1 storage.
Since the chipset can handle 4K “stack” HDR video recordings, it’s safe to assume that the OnePlus Nord 25G can also handle it.
OnePlus hasn’t checked the RAM and storage specifications for the Nord 2 5G, but you can expect the new phone to match at least the 12GB RAM and 256GB UFS 2.1 storage options of the previous phone.
In the present circumstances, OnePlus insists The new chip offers 65% faster CPU and 125% faster GPU performance compared to the previous Nord.
OnePlus works with MediaTek to adopt the regular Dimensity 1200 and incorporate new AI features. Primarily, these hardware-accelerated AI features handle image processing, stabilization, and night mode. There are also features such as AI color boost and resolution scaling, which are supposed to improve the “display experience”. This is assumed to refer to the quality of the image shown on the display.
Finally, battery life. Again, there are no official details in this regard, but you should expect the Nord 2 to at least match the previous Nord and provide more than 4,000mAh to support a 30W fast charge. ..
