Coffee County, TennesseeWKRN) — According to the arrest warrant, a man charged with animal cruelty told a detective that he had cut the dog’s heart as part of a ritual to expel the devil from his home in Tennessee.
Coffee County lawmakers responded to a dog-related uproar in the Hillsboro area on February 12, according to a warrant. When they arrived, lawmakers said they saw a man identified as Brandon Rankford telling them that he was busy and needed to bury his dog.
They said they noticed a dog in the yard that had “a large puncture wound on his neck and another puncture wound on his body.” When the warrant’s alleged Rankford was cross-examined, he “stabbed his dog to drive away the devil in the house and removed his mind,” he told his agent.
Witnesses told investigators that Rankford gave the dog to the boy, then placed the dog on the kitchen table and stabbed the animal in the neck and chest.
Rankford was arrested on suspicion of animal cruelty. He remains imprisoned in Coffee County for a $ 30,000 bond and will appear in court on April 26.
