A man arrested for hit-and-run in Hamilton Township

Police arrested the suspect in a deadly hit and run that killed a 37-year-old man in Hamilton Township. It happened around 8am on Tuesday due to a lot of people going to work on Grandin Road between Striker Road and Route 48. Hamilton Township Police Chief Scott Hughes received a call shortly after 8 am and reported a bloody man lying on the road. The man, identified as Mason’s Alexandre Begerli, was sentenced to death shortly thereafter. Police said after a long investigation, they arrested 37-year-old Jeremy Penwell of Green Township just before midnight on Tuesday. Penwell was driving a 2003 Honda Pilot who beat Begerli to death, but escaped from the scene. Penwell was arrested, charged with leaving the scene of the car accident, and taken to Warren County Jail.

It happened on Tuesday around 8am on Grandin Road between Striker Road and Route 48, as so many were heading to work.

According to Scott Hughes, police chief of Hamilton Township, the agency received a call after 8 am and reported a bloody man lying on the road.

The man, identified as Mason’s Alexandre Begerli, was sentenced to death shortly thereafter.

Investigators believe that Begerli was driving a car carrier and left his vehicle for some reason when he hit a passing vehicle.

After a lengthy investigation, police said they had arrested 37-year-old Jeremy Penwell of Green Township just before midnight on Tuesday.

Police said he was driving a 2003 Honda Pilot after Penwell beat Begerli to death.

Penwell was arrested, charged with leaving the scene of the car accident, and taken to Warren County Jail.
