A man in Madison County was convicted of threatening an abortion patient

James David Hampton, 41, has previously described himself as a “baby murderer” murderer on social media.

Columbus, Ohio — A man in Madison County was sentenced in federal court Thursday for threatening to kill victims associated with a nonprofit organization that provides abortion services.

James David Hampton, 41, has previously described himself as a “baby murderer” murderer on social media.

He was sentenced to 20 months in prison and 5 years under surveillance for threats made online last year. According to a statement from the Department of Justice, Hampton searched Facebook for an “abortion support network” in August 2020 and commented on a page of an organization threatening to kill people who used or defended the service.

In one of the comments, Hampton partially wrote, “I will fill you alive.” In other comments, Hampton claimed to know where the victims lived, kidnapped them and threatened to torture them “for information.”

Investigators have discovered more than 12 threats Hamton has posed to at least 10 victims. In addition, a Facebook Live video posted on Hampton’s profile showed that he was threatening to burn an abortion clinic and execute a doctor on the street.

Hampton was indicted by a federal grand jury in April and pleaded guilty in June of this year.

According to a US law firm, Hampton is currently being released, but is subject to electronic monitoring for both his location and online activities. An office spokesperson must add Hampton and self-surrender by the date and time provided by the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP).

BOP said 10TV Hampton was not detained and could not release the place where he self-surrendered until Hampton arrived at the place.
