Columbus, Ohio (WCMH) — AEP Ohio said on Monday afternoon that power had been restored to nearly 90% of customers who lost power on Saturday due to the storm, although some areas that still had no power could expect power to continue for several more days. Power will not be restored.
High winds in Ohio knocked down many trees and cut power lines. As a result, by Saturday afternoon, more than 125,000 of his customers were without power, including up to 16,000 in Franklin County. As of 2:15 p.m. Monday, AEP Ohio said he had reported fewer than 1,000 power outage cases, with just over 10,000 customers still without power.
The AEP said its efforts to restore power on Saturday were hampered by high winds that prevented workers from using bucket trucks and other equipment.
Restoration work has been completed in Columbus and Delaware, but many other cities in central Ohio aren’t expected to be fully restored until Tuesday or Wednesday night. In addition, AEP Ohio said widespread rainfall could bring down more trees and exacerbate already saturated ground, leading to more power outages. It says there is

- Athens (Scheduled to restore: Wednesday at 11pm)
- Chillicothe (Monday night)
- Coshocton (Tuesday at 3pm)
- Lancaster (Wednesday at 11pm)
- Mount Vernon (Monday afternoon)
- Newark (Monday afternoon)
- Zanesville (Tuesday at 3 pm)
In addition to outage maps, AEP says it will keep customers up to date with mobile alerts and social media posts.
