Bengal gets a satisfying complete game and prepares for Ravens

Cincinnati (AP) — Joe Burrow wrote another first choke in his promising NFL career — rested on the sidelines in the second half as his team had a comfortable lead.

The second year Cincinnati Bengals quarterback was all smiling when he saw backup Brandon Allen finish the unwinning Detroit Lions 34-11 rout on Sunday.

Due to the change, Cincinnati (4-2) scored on the first possession and also played a solid second half. The victory was satisfying for the team who approached Green Bay at home on October 10 and had to go to Baltimore on Sunday to face AFC North’s leading Ravens.

“We all have to step on people’s necks when needed,” said new receiver Ja’Marr Chase. “I think I did it well today.”

Barrow was 29-19 at 271 yards and had three touchdowns with a pass cut. The top picks for the entire 2020 draft will have at least two touchdown passes in each of Bengals’ first six games of the season. Running back Joe Mixon had 18 carries at 94 yards and caught 5 more passes at 59 yards and touchdown.

Cincinnati reduced the league’s worst attack to 228 yards.

“It’s always important to recover after losing,” said linebacker Logan Wilson, who made his fourth passcut of the season. “We came here and did what we needed, what we had to do, and what we had planned.”

What is working

Barrow won an offensive click and distributed the pass to six different receivers with a Detroit victory. Rookie running with Chris Evans in the background catches a touchdown pass and wants more play time. The tight end CJ Uzomah has evolved into a reliable and reliable option.

What you need help with

Barrow is still vulnerable to pass rush. After being beaten by the Packers and hurting his throat, he was beaten five times and fired twice against the Lions. He is playing with a surgically repaired left knee, and Cincinnati is still trying to find a way to provide him with better pocket protection. In Baltimore, this Sunday will be even tougher.

Hoard

Chase is getting better and better. He held four receptions at 97 yards for Lions, and his downfield block on safety helped pave the way for the 40-yard Mixon TD after a third-quarter catch. Chase had a 34-yard grab in Third Long, who set a field goal for Evan McPherson in the second half of the first half.

“Jamal continues to be the igniter for us,” Barrow said. “He continues to find these opportunities.”

Reduce inventory

Correct guard position. Rookie Jackson Carman was on the Reserve / COVID-19 list last week and didn’t practice until Friday. Bengals has started a rookie Tray Hill. Trayhill was put on the bench with two penalties in the first quarter. Carman was back, but Hill was returned to the game after being taken to the changing room due to illness in the third quarter, the team said. It’s not clear who will play this week.

Key number

5: Chase catches more than 40 yards this season. It’s the most common in the NFL.

Next step

Cincinnati must gain momentum in an important match against Ravens (5-1) trying to get out of the Los Angeles Chargers’ 34-6 rout. The Baltimore defense, which confused Justin Herbert and bottled a run game, can cause problems with the Bengals attack line.
