Eagles agree to one-year contract with Will Grier

The Eagles have agreed to a one-year contract with quarterback Will Grier.

Grier (6-1, 220 pounds), a former third-round pick of the Carolina Panthers, has played for five teams since entering the league in 2019. He primarily served as a backup, with Grier's only playing time coming in his rookie season in 2019. Carolina when he started the final two games of the year.

The 28-year-old will be reunited with offensive coordinator Kellen Moore for the third time in his five-year career. Grier and Moore spent two seasons together in Dallas (2021-22), with the latter serving as the Cowboys' offensive coordinator. In December, the Los Angeles Chargers removed Grier from the New England Patriots' practice squad. Moore, who will lead the Chargers' offense in 2023, once again adds a familiar face to the roster. Grier also worked with new quarterbacks coach Doug Nussmeier during his tenures with the Cowboys and Chargers. Grier had a brief stint with the Cincinnati Bengals before joining the Patriots and Chargers last season.

The Davidson, North Carolina, native was a college standout, playing one season at the University of Florida and two seasons at West Virginia University. Through his three seasons (2015, 2017-18), Grier threw for 8,556 yards and 81 touchdowns, and rushed for 148 yards and seven scores. Grier finished fourth in Heisman Trophy voting in 2018.

Grier will join a quarterback room that includes Jalen Hurts, Tanner McKee and newly acquired Kenny Pickett.
