Former Columbus teacher Justin Foley faces federal child porn charges

Columbus, Ohio (WCMH) — A Former teacher at Columbus City Schools He was indicted by the federal government for allegedly creating pornographic material involving some of his students.

Justin Foley, 47, of Delaware, Ohio, has been charged with sexually exploiting minors and distributing, receiving, and possessing photographs of children, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio.These charges take precedence Indictment Filed Against Foley in Delaware County in September.

Foley has worked as an AP Chemistry teacher in the Columbus City School District since 2013 and was an AP Chemistry teacher at Columbus Alternative High School. he resigned on October 5th1 day later the district began the process of dismissing him.

According to court documents, Foley allegedly used cell phones and other digital devices to create pornographic material. Interrogated by Delaware State Police, Foley allegedly admitted to videotaping the skirts and shorts of some students. The federal prosecutor’s office also alleges that Foley had tens of thousands of explicit videos of school students and that he had filmed them in locker rooms and other public places.

Delaware State Police said they received information from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children on August 16 about an IP address in Delaware County and an email account apparently containing child pornography. Police then said they had enough evidence to trace the account back to Foley and had run a search warrant at his home.

Federal officials said the videos found on Foley’s electronic device appeared to have been recorded at a school, a department store in central Ohio, a public area in Delaware, and a changing room.

“Victims of the video were clearly unaware that they were being recorded,” the federal attorney’s office said in a statement.

As of Wednesday, Foley was listed as an inmate at the Delaware County Jail.

Foley was formally indicted in federal court on Wednesday.

Sexual exploitation of minors is punishable by 15 to 30 years in prison, while distribution and receipt of child pornography is punishable by 5 to 20 years.
