Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jarvis Laundry suffers from MCL sprains on the knee and is considered weekly.
When asked on Monday, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said he didn’t have a timeline for Laundry’s return and wasn’t sure if Laundry would need to be on the injured list. If so, he will miss at least three games.
Laundry was injured in the second play of Cleveland’s victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday. Laundry dragged off the field after being tackled at the end of the 9-yard reception.
Odell Beckham Jr. missed two games in a row on Sunday as he continued to recover from the ACL break. But Beckham will be able to make his 2021 debut in the third week against the Chicago Bears if all goes well this week.
Stefanski said Beckham’s situation was assessed independently of all other injuries.
The second-year coach excluded Beckham early in the second week after the wide receiver chose not to play in the opener at Houston match time. Beckham told medical staff and coaches that he wouldn’t be able to contribute much to the Texans after warming up in the field and testing his feet.
Browns’ tight-end Austin Hooper was the top target for quarterback Baker Mayfield in the second week, winning five passes at 40 yards. He was targeted five times.
Laundry has 6 catches at 80 yards during the season.
Mayfield went to the locker room for a short while after his shoulders “jumped out and popped out” after trying to tackle Texans’ Safety Justin Reid, who intercepted Mayfield in the first half.
“There’s nothing so serious,” Mayfield said after the match.
