Town provides support to student athlete who was seriously injured during practice

Cortland, Ohio (WKBN) – Lakeview Local Schools is praying for the recovery of an 8th grade student.

About 200 people gathered for a candlelight vigil at the soccer field on Saturday.

It belonged to middle school student Frankie Prakanika, who suffered a head injury.

The accident was explained as an accident during track practice.

Father Christopher Cicero, Frankie's officiant, said the wake was “a sad time, but also a time of hope, for Frankie and his family, and that God will help him and his family through this difficult time.'' “I pray that this will happen,” he said.

People were also able to sign a poster that read “Prayers for Frankie.''
