Crave Creamery Opens in Wapaconeta

WAPAKONETA — Justin and Dena Wireman are Wapakoneta’s 102 E. Auglaize St. We have opened Krave Creamery in.

On Wednesday, the Wapaconeta Regional Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cut to officially welcome them downtown.

“We really wanted to boost downtown Wapac,” Dena said. “This building was vacant for a while, so I just wanted to bring something unique to downtown.”

It took about 10 months for the antique shop Guild the Lily to renovate the interior of the last building.

“My family and I asked M & W Construction to rebuild after all the demolition work, but then we put in the chips and did the finishing work. We did all the painting and the bar countertop. That’s it, “said Justin, who is also a Lima police officer. “We definitely got in there and got our hands dirty.”

As they were demolishing, they found some relics from what was there, funeral halls, chicken hatcheries, and furniture stores, before the antique store set up a store there.

“We were also able to find some unique things and good treasures in the walls. We tried to incorporate them into our new reconstruction,” Dena said.

Many of Wapaconeta’s seasonal ice cream shops close when the weather cools.

Dena Wireman sees it as an opportunity for them.

“I thought I could add it because I don’t have ice cream right away in the winter. In the walk-in experience, I put the ice cream in a waffle cone, all homemade. Bring something unique downtown I just wanted it, “Dena said.

Krave Creamery offers 18 different ice cream flavors.

“Stable (flavors) are vanilla, chocolate and strawberry, but there are a lot of spinning (flavors). I have holidays (flavors). Currently I have pumpkin pies, but also mint chips, butter pecans, raspberry chips, etc. Yes, “says Dena.

Wireman also has plans to expand.

“Next spring, we’ll be adding a large deck accessible from the new Riverwalk in downtown, from which we’ll have several picnic tables to enjoy ice cream outside. You can have a wonderful view to relax, “Justin said.

Crave Creamery is open Sunday to Thursday from noon to 8 pm and Friday and Saturday from noon to 9 pm.

Wiremans discovered the building’s past relics as a hatchery.

Wiremans cut the ribbon on Wednesday at the Grand Opening of Crave Creamery in downtown Wapaconeta.
