Entertainment Summary: Buddy Walk Raises Awareness of Down Syndrome

Lima-The Down Syndrome Society of Western Ohio hosts a buddy walk to raise awareness and celebrate people with Down Syndrome.

The Buddy Walk begins Saturday at 11:00 am with registration at Forot Park, Woodlawn and Cole Street in Lima.Free walk starts at 1pm

Lunch is provided and other activities are on the agenda of the event. This event will help kick off in October, Down Syndrome Awareness Month.

Other events around the area include:

Garage sale: Friday and Saturday from 8am to 4pm at Dr. 604 Gloria’s Westside United Methodist Church in Lima. Furniture is priced. All other items are provided for donations. The proceeds will help veterans food pantry in northwestern Ohio.

Real American sunrise: Friday from 7am to 8:30 am at the Veterans Memorial Civic & Convention Center at Town Square 7 in Lima. The cost including continental breakfast is $ 5 for members. $ 7 for non-members.The program starts at 7:30 am

The topic for breakfast participants this morning is the supply chain. Keynote speakers include Mike Powell of Sign Solutions, Ohio. Scott Cockerell of Wannemacher; Dr. Jonathan Andreas, Professor of Economics, Professor Howard Raid.

No pre-registration is required for this program.

Win at the Kin Information Fair: Friday 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, Saturday 9:30 am to noon, Lima’s 650 W. Market St. At the Lima Public Library in. free.

The Allen County Children Service hosts the event. While activities for children and relatives’ families take place, it helps relatives and relatives providers learn more about the support and services provided by local organizations.

Service providers such as SAFY Behavioral Health, OhioKAN (Kinship and Adoption Navigator), Family Resource Center, Allen County Board of Developmental Disabilities, YMCA, Allen County Metropolitan Housing and Crime Victim Services will answer your questions.

Saturday:

Pickleball Tournament: Saturday at 10am, Continental’s 102 Elm St. At the Continental Fire Department in. The cost is $ 25.

Continental Blue & Gold Athletic Boosters will be hosting a pickleball tournament at Continental’s Fall Festival.

The tournament consists of men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles tournaments. The match will take place on concrete in front of the 102 Elm St Continental Fire Department. Teams must be registered by September 21st. Payment can be made on the day of the event.

Manhattan Short Film Festival: The door will open at 6:30 pm on Saturday. The movie starts at 7pm at Art Space / Lima, 65-67 Town Square, Lima. Tickets are $ 15 at the door.

Film lovers unite to see and judge the work of the next generation of filmmakers. All participants will see the “shorts” and receive a ballot to vote for Oscar’s Best Film Award and Best Actor Award.

Milk run: Registration at 9am on Saturday. 1 pm kickstand. Whitehorse Biker Church 303S. Adams Street, Middle Point. $ 10 per person including boarding and meals.

Whitehorse Biker Church hosts its annual memorial ride, the Milk Run, in honor of Jerry Miller, who died in a motorcycle crash in 2020.

on Sunday:

ABATE Motorcycle Toy Run: The gate opens at 10 am on Sunday at Allen County Fairgrounds on Harding Highway 2750 in Lima. The bicycle departs at 12:00 noon with a sheriff. The bicycle will return to the trade fair at around 3 pm. Admission is $ 15 per person, or $ 10 for a toy donation.

ABATE is part of a national motorcyclist rights organization that politically supports rider freedom while promoting rider education and safety. This event is to collect money and collect toys to benefit the poor children in our area during the holiday season.
