Father pleaded guilty after his son had drugs in his backpack

An Ohio man pleaded guilty after his son took a rucksack full of drugs to school and tried to retrieve it before anyone knew.

Corey Tobren Rice has agreed to plead guilty to felony charges of possession of cocaine, aggravated possession of drugs, and possession of a fentanyl-related compound.

He also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of endangering children.

A source said Rice sent his son to Hills Elementary School with the wrong rucksack.

A school teacher discovered the smell of weed and inspected the backpack, which was full of drugs.

School officials contacted the sheriff and Rice, who asked for the backpack to be replaced, but changed his mind and fled to another state.

Rice was eventually found in Columbus, Mississippi and returned to Jefferson County.

Sentencing is scheduled for April 3
