Fort Wayne, Indiana (WOWO): The Allen County Coroners Office states that the prominent Caleb Swanigan of former Homestead and Purdue basketball died of natural causes.
Swanigan died on Monday night. The coroner’s office says they have been contacted, but does not investigate his death.
Swanigan was a McDonald’s All-American basketball player in Homestead’s Indiana in 2015. He then starred at Purdue University for two seasons, including being named the Big Ten Player of the Year and the first Team All-American in 2017. He was named 26th overall by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2017 NBA Draft.
Swanigan played for two seasons in Portland before being traded to Sacramento in 2019. He was traded back to Portland in 2020, but opted out of the NBA Bubble later in the season.
