Holy Rosary Church honoring the life of Pope Benedict

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (WTRF) – When 95-year-old Pope Benedict died Saturday morning at the Vatican Convent, Bishop Jeffrey M. Montforton of the Diocese of Steubenville reflected on the impact on his community.

Bishop Montforton had the privilege of visiting him in 2012 and recalls him as “very kind”.

“We have just lost a good and faithful shepherd who went to the Lord Jesus Christ, and we thank God for his devoted service,” said Bishop Montforton. “Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI has given hope to the Church through his care as chief shepherd.”

Bishop Montforton emphasized that the three publications of Pope Benedict, Jesus of Nazareth, are necessary, spiritual and scholarly readings without which no full-fledged theological library is complete.

Bishop Montforton will celebrate Mass in his honor on Thursday, January 5 at 10:00 am at Steubenville’s Holy Rosary Church.

We welcome all parishes, schools and institutions within the parish.
