DeWine requests emergency disaster declaration

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine called for an immediate disaster declaration Friday.

According to the announcement, Governor DeWine has asked the Small Business Administration to issue an immediate disaster declaration for individuals and organizations in Logan County affected by the March 14 tornado.

“It's been 20 days and we still haven't received a decision on that request,” DeWine said. “Additionally, there is no immediate prospect of a decision being made, which is why we are requesting an emergency disaster declaration from the SBA.”

Previously, DeWine sent a letter to President Biden requesting a FEMA Presidential Disaster Declaration for 11 Ohio counties. The governor has not yet received a decision from the White House.
