Customer hopes lottery luck continues at Niles store where $50,000 winning ticket was sold

Niles, Ohio (WKBN) – Trumbull County Convenience Store Sold thousands of dollars worth of Powerball tickets.

Tickets sold at the EZ Stop & Drive-Thru in Niles were worth $50,000. Similarly, more and more people are visiting this place in hopes of winning.

“There are some newcomers here, so yeah, people are trying their luck. I think the next big winner might be here again. So, it would be nice, but we'll see. Let's have a look,'' said Jot Singh, whose family owns the shop.

No one has won the jackpot since New Year's Day, and the amount now stands at $1.23 billion. He has a 1 in 292.2 million chance of taking home all his winnings, but even with the lower odds, customers are still hoping for some luck again with his EZ Stop.

“I think there's a place in Wisconsin called Miracle Mile where they sell a lot of winning horse tickets, so it might be the same thing here,” said Chuck Everman, a customer from Niles.

The current cash value of the jackpot is $595 million. Everman said his wife could decide what to do with the prize if she knew his winning numbers. He calls it “marriage mathematics.”

“Looks like I have a choice. Whatever I win, I get $20,” he said.

EZ Stop & Drive-Thru was one of three retailers in the Buckeye State that sold $50,000 worth of Powerball tickets in Monday night's drawing.

Singh said he was excited to be able to sell such valuable tickets at his store.

“We started our business in 2019, so it's been a few years now. This is the first one. This is the biggest thing that anyone has ever done here,” Singh said.
