From designing the coaster to delivering the final product, the challenge provided an opportunity for the students to apply the entrepreneurial and engineering skills they learned in class.

“So this is the real world, right?” said Valerie Kulick Brown, who teaches the BE2TA class. “You have a job, you have a deadline. If you don’t meet these things to keep your clients happy and listen to what they actually want, no one wins.”

BE2TA Grade 8 Reese Johnson said the opportunity to support organizations like this is important.

“Having the opportunity to do that means a lot,” Johnson said. “Especially as a young kid, to help kids my age.”
