Lima authorities support Whaley for governor

Lima — Earlier this week, several Lima city officials supported Dayton Mayor Nan Wellie, who ran for Ohio Governor in 2022. Whaley is currently one of two Democrats running to dismiss incumbent Republican Mike DeWine, and the other is Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley.

Whaley was endorsed by Mayor of Lima, David Berger, and members of the Lima City Council, Jamie Dixon, Carla Thompson, and Tony Wilkerson.

“Ohio needs a governor to face special interests and fight for what is right for us all,” Berger said. “As one of the founders of the bipartisan Ohio Mayor’s Alliance, she has repeatedly shown her efforts to reach all Ohio communities, large and small. That is what the next governor needs. It is. “

Members of the council cited the ability to listen to the community and the expansion of social services in Dayton during her term.

“Under Nan’s leadership, Dayton made quality kindergartens available to all four-year-olds and was the first in Ohio to offer paid parental leave to all city officials,” Thompson said. I am. “I’m proud to support her becoming the first female governor of Ohio because it’s the kind of creative leadership the state needs.”

Four officials from the city of Lima have joined the list of more than 100 local leaders from across the state who supported the Whaley campaign. She has been Mayor of Dayton since 2014.
