Here’s how to rent an apartment in Doris, Maine

WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) — Wheeling visitors get ready to be welcomed in a whole new way.

Not only will the Convention and Visitors Bureau be built by the suspension bridge, but the new 46-unit Doris on Main is nearing completion across the street.

Named after local businessman Doris Ann Ingold Woda, it is the third new building in downtown Wheeling for over 30 years.

City officials want to make a new first impression on those who drive into town.

Between Lovell Green on Wheeling Island and Hobbs Green on South Wheeling, the company behind its construction is part of what Mayor Glenn Elliott calls a “building boom.”

But with the city’s acquisition of land across the street from Doris, and many other things going on, it’s just an exciting time. People want to live downtown, they want to go back downtown, they want to work downtown, they want to shop, they want to live downtown, and so on. A lot of exciting things are happening.

Leases are expected to begin in just a few months, and applications are being accepted at the Boury Lofts on 16th Street.

Expect a one-bedroom unit to run about $1000 per month, and a two-bedroom rent of about $1300.

Boulevard drivers see rapid progress on the building, and construction is already nearing its end.

Simons said an April completion date is still under consideration.
