Local base Corey Grinder and Playboy Scout Released a new album Honky Tonkin Beauty SupremeThis week, Cleveland-based Blue Arrow Records released vinyl and CDs. The impression is that local Debbie and Pete Grias are selling out second-hand record stores of the same name. The duo founded the label to release a solo song by former Modern Lovers singer and guitarist Jonathan Richman.
Grinder and Company is the label’s first act based in northeastern Ohio.
2018 since his first release Kahoot and other favorites, Grinder went out on the road and played in Nashville, Pittsburgh, New Orleans, Chicago, Texas, North Carolina, Detroit and more. The band is known for its large blue school bus specially equipped for tours.
Grinders are gaining attention across the United States, and American founder, singer and guitarist Dale Watson once invited the grinder and his band as a backing band for Broken’s set. Spokes and Continental Club.
Grinder is also the first participant in the new Cleveland Rocks Music Incubator Program. This program is a “microloan / mentoring cohort experiment designed with seed funding through Neighborhood Connections”. The grinder uses a small $ 2000 loan to support his three-week tour. Cleveland Rocks: Past Present Future Executive Director Cindy Barber adopted the grinder for the program after seeing his audience grow while playing a gig at the Grinder’s co-owned Beachland Ballroom.
Cleveland’s Gotta Groove Records was responsible for pressing the album’s vinyl, and Grammy and Emmy-nominated local producer David Mayfield recorded the disc at his studio in Canton.
