Curiosity Rover recently celebrated his birthday on Mars on the night of August 5th. The robot, launched in November 2011 and reaching Mars on August 5, 2012, has been on the red planet for the past nine years. It is designed to have a lifespan of 14 years.
With the help of Rover observation, Scientists were able to better understand the red planet. Over the last nine years, Rover has traveled over 25 km (16.14 miles total).
Observations made by Rover revealed that in the ancient past, Martian Gale craters hosted a system of lakes and streams. This discovery suggests that the red planet could have been as life-supporting as Earth.
Another sign of life discovered by Mars’ curiosity is organic chemicals. These elements contain carbon, which is considered a component of life. A spike in methane concentration was also observed by Curiosity Rover. Methane is produced not only by both organisms, but also by abiotic processes.
On its 9th birthday on the Red Planet of Curiosity, NASA shared a photo of the Rover clicked in 2018. Curiosity Rover was investigating Vera Rubin Ridge when he took his picture.
Curiosity tweeted 4.1 million followers on Twitter to announce that he was celebrating his ninth landing. Lonely rover usually sings Happy Birthday songs every year.
Celebrating its ninth landing on Mars. In 2012 I started running. I traveled a total of 16.3 miles (26.3 km), climbed 1,509 feet (460 m) above sea level, and collected 32 drilling samples. Time goes by when you are doing science. Thank you for riding with us! https://t.co/PXHNFvZ9wv pic.twitter.com/42naEmeSsv

Recently, Mars Rover has been reported to have captured an image of a small rock in the Gale Crater. Space.com.. The height of small structures is only 16.5 centimeters (6.5 inches). But scientists are excited about it because of its unusual shape.
In addition to the Curiosity Rover, NASA has two more robots to explore Mars. Insight lander and Perseverance Lunar Module. China National Space Administration (CNSA), a Chinese space agency, also has a lander rover module (Zhurong Rover) on Mars. Following the United States and Russia, China is the only country that has successfully landed a robot on Mars.
