Columbus School Superintendent Talks About New Job

Columbus, Ohio (WCMH) — The new superintendent of Columbus City Schools makes her first media appearance since being elected to the top office.

Named by the Columbus School Board chapman directed by last week After two months of searching, Successor to Talitha Dixon. Chapman was one of three finalists out of 31 applicants.

Chapman was named interim superintendent the day after Dixon announced his retirement. After becoming the district’s director of transformation and leadership, she assumed the position on January 1, a few months after Dixon signed an additional three-year superintendent contract.

After working in several school districts, including Cleveland Heights, Nashville, and the District of Columbia, Chapman joined Columbus City Schools in 2019. She led the implementation of her $8 million grant to improve the school district’s “major pipeline” and has served in the administration in 2019. Sudden shift to distance learning due to COVID-19.

The board said last week that Chapman’s contract was still in draft. In the meantime, she will continue to serve as district superintendent.
