Ohio State University Lyft Ride Smart Moves to Early Start Time

This is just one of the many safety initiatives the university is implementing to keep students safe.

Columbus, Ohio — The Ohio State University announced a new start time for its ride-sharing program on Wednesday to enhance campus security.

according to University website, Lyft Ride Smart Discount Ride Program will be available from 7pm to 7am The program originally started at 9pm

This program gives students discounted access to vehicles around the University and Short North Arts District.

University officials said the change was based on feedback from Ohio State University students. President Christina Johnson tweeted on Wednesday that this is on top of other recent security enhancements made by the university.

Johnson and Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther also announced Additional $ 20 million Funding for campus safety initiatives over the next decade.

This money will help you allocate campus security, aisle lighting, cameras, and more.

According to Johnson, the university has invested more than $ 1 million in security measures since the deadly shooting of Ohio State University student Chase Meora last year.
