Olivia Kurtz Shooting: Columbus Police, FBI Joint Investigation

Olivia Kurtz was killed in a shooting that injured five other people under the age of 20 during a private party in the park on May 22nd.

Columbus, Ohio — The Federal Bureau of Investigation will assist the Columbus Police Department in investigating the shooting of a 16-year-old girl in Bicentennial Park in May.

At the time, Deputy Chief Tim Becker said the party was not licensed by the Columbus Recreation and Parks Division and described the rally as a “pop-up party.”

Kurtz was a student in the Columbus City School district and attended the Fort Hayes Metropolitan Education Center. She had just won high honor at school two weeks before she died.

Since then, police have not arrested or provided information about the suspect.

At a press conference on Wednesday, Columbus Police Chief Elaine Bryant and FBI Special Agent Will Rivers will share details of their joint efforts to investigate Kurtz’s death.
