Fort Wayne, Indiana (WOWO): Allen County Commissioner Nelson Peters submitted an investigation to the Election Commission on Wednesday as it could be run by the Mayor of Fort Wayne in 2023.
“By submitting to this research committee, we have the opportunity to see the mayor run through a finer lens,” says Peters. “This gives us the opportunity to better understand the work needed to succeed in this venture and the issues that are most important to Fort Wayne’s citizens.”
Republican Peters has been the Allen County Commissioner on behalf of District 1 since 2005. His current term is January 1, 2025. It will play a key role in integrating the Fort Wayne Allen County Alliance and the Great Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce into Greater Fort Wayne.
He is a graduate of Snyder High School and Indiana University.
Earlier, Republican District 3 city council member Tom Didier announced that he would run for mayor’s Republican position.
Democratic Mayor Tom Henry previously said his fourth term would be his last, but his office said “all options” were at the table.
