Watch Kevin Parish Jr. against Panthers, Quarterbacks, Connor, Fotz, Golden and Wesley.
Cardinals is entering the 10th week with the best NFL record and is trying to secure a 9-1 start when hosting Panthers Sunday at State Farm Stadium. I like the Cardinals, but the Panthers have won five straight games between the teams.
Prior to the match, here are five cardinals to watch in this week’s spotlight.
Unknown start quarterback
Kyler Murray isn’t sure if he’ll be back on Sunday after missing his ankle injury victory in San Francisco last week. When Murray plays, his eyes focus on how healthy the MVP candidate looks against the second best defense in the NFL. If the coach postpones Murray for another week, veteran Colt McCoy will make a second straight start after registering an impressive 119.4 passer rating last week.
Milestone Watch: With a 31-yard pass, Murray will be the fourth youngest player in NFL history, reaching a 10,000-career passyard.
With a passer rating of 120.0 or higher, Murray wins the most franchise records of the season (5 Kurt Warners in 2009).
After Chase Edmonds injured his ankle with Cardinals’ first offensive possession last week, Connor intervened and performed ideally. With 21 carries, Connor finished with the best 96 rush yards of the season and two rush touchdowns. Run games continue to rely heavily on Connor, as Edmonds is likely to be absent for weeks. Carolina allows you to rush 111.7 yards above the ground.
Milestone Watch: Milestone Watch: Touching down in a hurry, Connor will have 11 TDs in a hurry in 2021. Only three players in the history of the franchise have TDs more quickly during the season: David Johnson (16 in 2016), John David Crow (14 in 1962)), and Ernie Nevers (1929). To 12).
Connor (5) joins David Johnson (5 in 2016) as the only player in franchise history in five TD games that run through multiple rushes in a season with two rush touchdowns. It also gave him 12 rushing TDs in 2021 leading to the third highest single season total in franchise history.
The 49ers received 28 snaps last week, taking into account Cardinals’ ability to limit the 49ers run game to a nonsensical 39 yards with 11 carries. The same energy is needed on Sunday to limit Christian Macafree, who looks healthy again.
Golden continues to be a new defensive revelation from the three-bag performance last week in San Francisco. The Panthers are ranked in the top 10 for allowed sack, so Golden has more chances to increase the total sack. Golden leads the team with a sack (9), and only Cleveland’s Myles Garrett (12) and Pittsburgh’s TJ Watt (11.5) have more sack throughout the nine games.
Milestone Watch: With a sack, Golden will be a 10.0 sack in 2021. This is the third time in his career and the second time in the Cardinals. Golden piled up double-digit sack during the season (12.5 w / AZ in 2016, 10.0 w / NYG in 2019).
With a victory in San Francisco, Wesley contributed to the pass offense, catching all three targets at 62 yards, averaging 20.7 yards per catch. As DeAndre Hopkins deals with bad hamstrings and AJ Green in the Covid protocol, the Cardinal may need to make similar productions against Wesley’s second-ranked defense in the NFL. Panthers Pass Defense gives 181.4 yards per game. Only buffalo can reduce the yardage in the air.
