Pre-Christmas lights dazzle with giant tree, choral

At the Toledo Zoo’s ‘Lights Before Christmas’, the annual tree lighting ceremony took place on Friday night. The lines before and after were full of excited and happy faces.

Toledo, Ohio — Toledo Zoo’spre christmas lightsheld its annual tree lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. on Friday. Excited and happy faces lined up before and after the main event.

For many families, the lights and celebrations, now in their 37th year, are an annual tradition.

Attendee Carolyn Horner, along with her friend Katie Roback, carried Horner’s sons Derek and Jordan in a blanket-covered red wagon.

It will be Horner’s eighth year and Robach’s first. The entire group was lined up in a row, ready to walk to their Norway spruce and animal destinations.

In addition to all tourist attractions, Masterpiece Chorale of ToledoA voice echoed during the lighting ceremony. Director Tim Clotter said Chorale has been playing with Wright since the beginning.

“Every year, for years, we’ve been singing to the lights of the big tree,” he said. sing.”

The 80-foot-plus spruce trees are clearly the star of the show, but the notorious Midwest cold can make the tooth-chattering weather sing.

“This is a way of giving back to our community,” he said. “Our mission statement is ‘Connecting lives through choral music’ and this is one of the small ways we do it in our community.”

Lights Before Christmas runs through December 31 and is open from 3-8 PM Monday-Thursday and 3-9 PM Friday-Sunday. Also open on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
