Rookie Lucas Raymond scores his first goal as a Wings dump jacket

Lucas Raymond scored his first NHL goal to add assist, and host Detroit Red Wings beat Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1 on Tuesday.

The fourth-chosen 19-year-old Raymond in the 2020 draft withdrew to the locker room in the second half after being hit hard.

Tyler Bertuzzi provided his fifth goal of the season. He scored four points in the Red Wings opener against Tampa Bay.

Bradislav Namesnikov and Adam Erne added an empty net goal to Detroit, and Thomas Grace made 22 saves.

Boone Jenner scored the only Columbus goal and Jonas Columbusaro stopped 41 shots.

The team scored no points in the first two periods. The Red Wings outperformed the Blue Jackets 13-8 in the first period and 18-5 in the second period.

Detroit scored 10 of these shots in the first seven minutes of the second period, but still failed to break through. Wings’ Philip Zadina fired a shot from the post in the middle of the period.

Wings had a great opportunity when Sean Clari joined him after Cole Sillinger of the Blue Jackets was sent to a high sticking penalty box and tripped Dylan Larkin 26 seconds later. Detroit had a 5 to 3 advantage and was still unable to pass the puck through Colpisaro.

The Blue Jackets defeated the man again in the third early stage when Scott Harrington was asked to trip, but Columbusaro performed the task again.

Wings finally settled him with Raymond’s souvenir goal. After Larkin nudged the puck to him, he fired a wrist shot from the right circle, which sailed over Korpisaro’s shoulder. Nick Lady, who sent a lead pass to Larkin from just outside his blue line, scored his second assist with a goal that came at 6:17 during that period.

Bertuzzi went 2-0 in one time from the circle on the left from the feed from Larkin. He hit Colpisaro with his right shoulder. The goal came at 8:53 and was set by Raymond’s pass from the blue line.

Blue Jackets boarded the board at 12:51 with Bertuzzi in the rough penalty box. Jenner scored a second goal this season, backhanding the puck into Grace’s glove, thanks to Yakubu Volasek’s pass. Patrick Reine also got help.
