Harrison County In Talks With Local FDs About Backup Services

HARRISON COUNTY, Ohio (WTRF) — At this week’s regular meeting, commissioners agreed to begin negotiations with the Hopedale Fire Department and Bowerston Fire Department regarding continued backup in the county.

Until recently, Harrison Community Hospital served as the county’s emergency ambulance service.

Officials came to the commission claiming they intended to abolish that part of their business.

Commissioners say they have been working for months to resolve the situation and ensure that residents continue to receive the best possible care.

“As a temporary solution, we believe this option is probably the best solution at this time. They were kind enough to extend it for another 90 days.”

Dustin Corder – Harrison County Commissioner

The hospital has agreed to continue back-up services through July 31, but commissioners hope to finish negotiations and begin July 1.
