Moraine Church makes beds for needy children

Moraine, Ohio (WDTN) — Moraine churches came together to help children by making beds.

Members of the Moraine City First Church of God will work Saturday, April 22 from 9am to 12pm to build 25 beds. A group known as “Sleep in Heavenly Peace” had a group of members building beds in a church parking lot.

Jeff Modd belongs to the Sleep in Heavenly Peace organization and states that the new chapter is specifically in Montgomery County. There are currently published children’s applications for the Miamisburg and Moraine zip codes, with more zip codes continuing to be published in this chapter.

“Publish the zip code for the application. Currently the zip code is published in Miamisburg and the zip code for this church is Moraine City. [First] It’s God’s church,” Mod says.

Volunteers for the event were mostly members of the church, but there were also Franklin members. At this event, some sort of vinegar was placed on wooden planks during the building process as a deterrent to bedbugs.

“We stain the wood with vinegar soaked in steel wool to give it a nice modern gray stain,” Modd says. “Bed bugs don’t like vinegar, so another tip to keep bedbugs away.”
