Ohio’s New Bill Affects Home Renters: Here’s How

Dayton, Ohio (WDTN) — A new bill in the Ohio Legislature will change the way landlords view rental applicants.

House Bill 150 seeks to amend sections of the revised Code to prohibit discrimination in rental housing based solely on legitimate sources of income. This includes those receiving public assistance such as grants, loan programs, and federal housing.

The bill is sponsored by Democratic Rep. Terrence Upchurch of Cleveland and Adam Miller of Columbus. It’s currently on a committee and, once it’s cleared, will head to the House of Representatives for a possible vote.
