The Houston Texans added quarterback depth by calling veteran Jeff Driskel from the practice team on Wednesday.
28-year-old Driskel is 1-8 in nine careers in three NFL seasons: Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions and Denver Broncos. He will be backing up Thursday night with the Texans (1-1) hosting the Carolina Panthers (2-0).
Rookie’s third round Pick Davis Mills begins his first career on behalf of the injured Tyrod Taylor, who was placed on the injured list for a hamstring injury in the second week’s defeat to the Cleveland Browns.
Incumbent quarterback Deshaun Watson remains on the sidelines due to off-field issues revealed during the off-season.
