One dead, two injured in Prairie Township crash

A third vehicle involved in the accident had left the scene before the sheriff’s office arrived.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio — One person was killed and two injured in a hit-and-run accident involving three vehicles in western Franklin County Monday morning.

Witnesses told the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office that an unknown vehicle had entered the westbound lane of West Broad Street off Mernan Road and slammed into oncoming traffic.

A white 2005 Toyota Corolla with three people inside to avoid a head-on collision. The vehicle lost control and crossed the east and west lanes.

A black 2013 Chevrolet Impala crashed into a Toyota as it was sliding east on West Broad Street. The Toyota rolled over and the Impala stopped near Amity Road.

The three people in the silver car were taken to hospital. At 7:16 a.m., a hospital declared one of the passengers dead, but their identities have not been released.

The other passenger is in critical condition and the driver is in stable condition, the sheriff’s office said.

Authorities said the Impala’s driver and passenger suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
