Cool weekend, showers return, chilly start to May

A low pressure system drifting across the northern Great Lakes will be replaced by another storm system that settles over the weekend, bringing wet, windy and unseasonably cold weather over the next few days.

The sky cleared partly and the temperature rose into the mid 60’s. More clouds tonight, with showers and thunder southeast of Columbus. A series of showers and storms that preceded the Indiana cold front are likely to bring some light rain with thunder, but will weaken as they move into central Ohio tonight.

Another storm system will move northward over the Appalachians from the southeast on Sunday. Most of the rain falls east of the Ohio Valley, but light develops in the afternoon and evening to wrap around the storm.

Cooler weather will return in southeastern Canada and the northern Great Lakes as the storm intensifies and turns retrograde. A band of rain or showers will head southeast through Monday and Tuesday. The high remained in his late to mid-50s before returning to more seasonal levels as conditions dried later in the week.
