Infant found dead in Ohio garbage truck

Plain City, Ohio (WCMH) — An infant was found dead in a garbage truck on Thursday afternoon after Plains City Police received a call from the village’s contract waste company.

The infant appears to be a full-term newborn between 0 and 1 month old, police said in a statement.

Officers were dispatched to Block 100 of Bluestem Lane and found the infant in the back of a garbage truck. Medics from the Pleasant Valley Joint Fire District pronounced the infant dead at 2:33 p.m.

The dead infant’s body has been removed from the scene and is being examined by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

The Plain City Police lead the investigation. Additional details, including a provisional cause of death and the baby’s gender, will be released on Friday afternoon, police said.
