Knicks beat Cavaliers in Game 3

Jalen Brunson helps the hosts New York Knicks record a convincing 99-79 victory over cold shooting Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference First Round series on Friday night. He produced 21 points and 6 assists.

RJ Barrett had 19 points and 8 rebounds and Josh Hart added 13 points and 6 rebounds to give New York a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. Julius Randle scored 11 points and he had eight rebounds, even though he shot 3-of-15, and Immanuel Quickley also scored his 11 points.

Donovan Mitchell had 22 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists, while Caris Levert added 17 points.

Darius Garland had 10 points on 4-of-21 shooting, and Evan Mobley had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Cleveland and had 21 turnovers.

Game 4 is Sunday in New York.

Game 3 marked a significant turnaround for New York, which trailed by up to 29 points in Tuesday’s 107-90 Game 2 loss to Cleveland. This time, the Knicks led by 27 people.

New York shot 47% from the field in Game 3 and made 10 of 33 (30.3%) from 3-point range.

Cleveland managed to score just 32 points in the first half. The Cavaliers shot 31% in the half, and from 3-point range he was 2-of-19 (10.5%).

Cleveland trailed 72-55 after 3/4 and could not come back.

The Cavaliers were down 15 before New York’s Obi Toppin scored the first six points of an 11-2 burst, raising the Knicks’ lead to 88-64 with 6:28 remaining.

Both teams struggled in the first quarter which ended in a 17-17 draw. New York scored 26.1% for him and the Cavaliers scored 33.3% for him during this period.
