Toys for Tots Campaign in Lima

LIMA — Wednesday’s Lima Noon Optimists Club launched its annual Toys for Tots campaign to help families in need celebrate their vacation.

Collection boxes will be posted at schools, car dealerships, public buildings and businesses throughout Allen County from November 1st to December 11th. The donation must be a new unwrapped gift for children distributed by the Lima Salvation Army in time for Christmas. ..

Last year, the Toys for Tots campaign provided food boxes and gifts to 707 families in Allen County, including 1,600 children under the age of 12.

The annual toy drive was established by the US Marine Corps Reserve in collaboration with community groups such as the Optimist Club and The Salvation Army to help families at stake during their vacation. Major Debbie Stacy of the Lima Salvation Army said families who lost their income while their children were in quarantine described families registered with Toys for Tots during the kick-off on Wednesday.

“Before reaching out to the Salvation Army, this Christmas seemed impossible,” Stacy said.

The Lima Salvation Army will be on Wednesday, November 3rd, from 9am to noon and from 1pm to 3pm, at 614 E. Market St in Lima. We will hold the final application date for Christmas support at.

Family members in need of assistance must obtain birth certificates for all children, photo IDs for all adults, social security cards, income proofs for the last 30 days, address proofs, and qualifications. You will need to bring your monthly invoice and list of expenses. Only for families residing in Allen County.
