Tuesday morning accident closes traffic along West Jefferson Boulevard – WOWO 92.3 FM | 1190am

FORT WAYNE, Indiana (WOWO): Traffic along West Jefferson Boulevard was closed early Tuesday morning after an SUV crashed into the side of a local saloon at the intersection of West Jefferson and West Main streets.

Workers were called to the moonshine and galley site shortly after 4 a.m. when the SUV slammed into the side of the store. Early reports indicated that there was a possible gas leak in the area, causing West Jefferson to close and traffic around the area to divert to streets in other areas.

Outpartner reported on 21Alive news that gas had been turned off in the area as workers continued to clean up. Unfortunately, according to dispatch, the cleaning estimate is still pending, so this will interfere with our morning commute.

As of 7am, West Jefferson Boulevard has reopened for morning traffic, but the westbound lane remains closed so crews can continue working on the gas pipe. It was planned.
