Update: Floressa Bakery in Clark-Fulton District Opens October 22

In August, we shared the news that Caitlin Dobson is preparing to open. Floressa Clark-in a restored building in the Fulton district. It turns out that a charming bakery cafe will open on Friday, October 22nd.

When Caitlin Dobson and Sara Bisheimer started Floressa bakeries from their respective homes, they had a very specific plan to culminate in retail bakeries and cafes. It may have taken years longer than they had imagined, but its purpose is now just a few weeks away.

“When we started Floressa, our vision was to get some restaurants, open markets, buy buildings and create retail space for the first time,” explains Dobson. “It feels so surreal right now, so I’m actually doing it. That’s what we planned for six years.”

Launched in 2015, Floressa is well known for its high-quality vegan, gluten-free, and classic desserts, coffee shops such as Rising Star, restaurants such as Ken Stewart, and grocery stores such as Whole Foods and Nature’s Oasis. It is sold locally at. It wasn’t long before the company needed more production space and was able to secure it from the church in Ohio City.

“We started the wholesale business and quickly enlarged our home kitchen, so we found an empty church kitchen and started operations from there,” Dobson adds.

They bought the Clark-Fulton building. Floressa (3328 W. 33rd St., 440-941-1302) It dates back to 2018, but it took longer than expected to complete the refurbishment. But finally, the production kitchen is up and running, and the cafe should follow in a month or two. When open to the public, it will offer coffee and popular portable items such as cookies, brownies, banana bread, pumpkin bread, chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon rolls and lemon bars. Many of these sweets are certainly vegan and gluten-free, but there are also “classic” desserts made with flour, eggs and dairy products.

“Our concept when we first started was that we wanted a place where everyone could come and find something,” says Dobson.

In the future, we plan to add delicious breakfast and lunch items such as soups, salads and sandwiches. Floressa will be a counter service operation with seats. Look for Floressa to open in October.
