Uplift Her Hosts Women’s Mixer in Columbus for Health and Empowerment

Columbus, Ohio (WCMH) — Thursday’s networking event dedicated to women’s health kicked off a series of summer health-related events in Columbus.

On Thursday, Uplift Her allowed women in Central Ohio to connect, empower and network while sipping coffee and cuddling with other local women. Many attendees shared everything from career advice to health tips, including Autumn Glover, who stressed the importance of the event.

“We need this event because now is the time to focus and get serious about our overall health,” said Glover, VP of Community Partnerships at And Health. “If we didn’t take our health seriously, we wouldn’t be here for our children and families.”

Studies have found that women of color have an increased risk of diseases such as breast cancer and cardiovascular disease. Carlena Wallace, communications director at the National Center for Urban Solutions, said their goal is to save lives.

“We want women to really take control of their health and really understand how to live healthier and just be here and live longer,” Wallace said.

Uplift Her has another wellness day on June 22nd from 3pm to 8pm. Find out more and click to register for the event. here.

The African American male wellness agency, which spearheads the Uplift Her initiative, also has several events planned, including:
