(WJW) — You may not enjoy some symptoms autumn Cool temperatures, short days, and even the pumpkin spice flavor… I love it all, but I can’t help but love the beautiful colors of the changing leaves.
When will people in northeastern Ohio see the brightest colors? OhioAre trees on display?
Ohio Department of Natural Resources David Parrott, Fall Colors Forester in the Forestry Department, says that will happen soon.
“Right now, the peak forecast we’re looking for is peaking in northern Ohio between October 17th and October 24th,” Parrott said. video on their site.
Central Ohio is expected to peak around October 24th, while Southern Ohio is expected to peak from October 24th through the end of the month.
Sunlight, temperature, precipitation, and wind all affect these fall colors and peak times.
Most parts of Ohio have seen above-average rainfall so far this year, he explained.
“This supply of water throughout the growing season should keep the trees healthy and ready for a color show,” he said.
He said bright sunny days, cool nights, and not much rain or wind are the perfect recipe for the best autumn foliage.
Ohio has about 125 different tree species, each with its own special shade of fall color, he said.
