CLEVELAND — Law enforcement officers from various departments march through the streets of downtown Cleveland this morning as Police Week 2023 continues.
The Cleveland Police Department Memorial Parade departs from Lakeside Avenue on East 12th Street at approximately 10:30 am. The parade then continues along Lakeside Avenue.

“Participants in the parade include local, county, state and federal police officers across the United States and Canada, as well as the bereaved families of the highest-sacrifice police officers.” according to the event schedule.
Immediately following the parade, a memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. from Police Memorial Square (Huntington Park).
“When a law enforcement officer dies in the line of duty, the loss reverberates throughout the community,” Greater Cleveland Police Officers Memorial Association State on site. “Families lose beloved members, law enforcement lose respected colleagues, and communities lose the services of police officers dedicated to protection.”
The Memorial Society was founded in 1985.
“The Police Memorial Society lives up to the promise of its founders by honoring and not forgetting the lives of police officers who have died in action, while providing aid and moral support to their families and friends.”

The parade takes place the day after the Cleveland Police Department holds its annual parade. badge case ceremonyused to commemorate fallen officers by enshrining their badges on the division memorial.
