Columbus SWAT Officers Open Fire While Arresting Juvenile Suspect
SWAT officers were processing an arrest warrant on the 4000 block of Elaine Park Drive when they spotted the suspect and two others approaching the stolen vehicle.
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Officers issuing an arrest warrant fired a weapon Tuesday night after one of three juvenile suspects they were trying to detain was shown a firearm, police said.
SWAT officers with Columbus Police Department At about 10:35 p.m., while issuing an arrest warrant in the 4000 block of Elaine Park Drive, I saw the suspect and two others approaching the stolen vehicle.
Police said one of the suspects showed a firearm when officers tried to detain the three boys. An unnamed policeman then shot him at least once, but no one was hit.
Three juveniles were arrested and two firearms were recovered from the scene.
Columbus Police told 10TV that one of the suspects in custody is being questioned by criminals about his involvement in a murder that occurred in early December.
The Columbus Division of the Police Homicide Bureau is investigating the case.
