Competitors and friends gather at the Arnold Sports Festival
COLUMBUS, OH (WCMH) – The 35th Annual Arnold Sports Festival was a Friday full of fun and friends.
Over 100,000 people are expected to be in town, among competitors and visitors. From weightlifting to other athletics, Arnold offers many attractions around the Greater Columbus Convention Center.
“I walk by the brands I see online all the time and meet people who inspire me every day. I feel like there is no other sport that I can do,” Divina Mims said.
Originally from Nashville, Mims came to Arnold with friends she’d made through the body building community. They come from all over the country, but this year is the first time they’ve met in Arnold.
He calls himself “#takeover” and wears a matching jacket.
“It was a love of sport, a love of sisterhood, and encouraging each other to promote women’s empowerment. Turner said
Part of the World’s Strongest Firefighters Convention also took place on Friday. Firefighters from all over the country and around the world competed in various competitions.
“I’m sorry, but there are no more words. There are people here who absolutely, first and foremost, don’t even feel like I should be standing by them,” said Lancaster Fire Department Firefighter Jake. Powell said.
Powell said getting to know other firefighters is just as great as the competition.
“It’s really cool. It’s a really enlightening experience,” he said. “You can actually learn how to react and things like that in their area might be a little different than what you see here in central Ohio.”
