Decision on whether accused Youngstown City School District superintendent will be reinstated
youngstown, ohio (WKBN) — The Youngstown City School District has announced that Dean of Students Seavas Whipple will not be returning next school year.
The decision was made at Tuesday night's school board meeting. The case comes after Whipple was charged with misdemeanor counts of domestic violence and resulting damage or endangerment. In an incident in February, he was seen on video hitting a girl with a car.
Whipple was also the head basketball coach at East High School.
His contract expires at the end of the school year and will not be renewed, the district said.
Whipple remains on paid administrative leave from the district. He has a preliminary hearing on the charges scheduled for May 30.
Whipple isn't the only administrator who won't be returning to YCSD next year. The district plans to lay off 30 employees, five of whom were in management positions. Teachers are not fired.
