Dayton, Ohio (WDTN) — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine sends 14 members of the Ohio Highway Patrol to Texas to assist the U.S. Southern Border.
This is not the first time police officers have been sent to other states.
“This is the second group of police officers in nearly two years to respond to Texas law enforcement assistance,” the governor’s office said. “Governor DeWine previously allowed OSP personnel to respond to Texas. July 2021“
In October 2020, the governor dispatched 115 members of the Ohio National Guard at the request of the Homeland Security and National Guard.
50 new members of the Ohio National Guard will be sent to Texas in October.
